Another busy weekend of football for Drogheda Boys & Girls FC, with our teams back in action across Saturday and Sunday. From our youngest players enjoying their football to some excellent results across the older age groups, there was plenty to celebrate in the claret and blue!

Our 2018 Clarets were back at Marley’s Lane against Malahide United, while our 2017 Clarets travelled to Celtic Park to face Howth Celtic. Our 2016 Clarets were in Sullivan and Lambe Park for a fun friendly blitz against local opposition. Our 2012 Claret 15.1s got the weekend underway with a hard-fought 2–2 draw against Finglas United at Marley’s Lane.

Sunday saw another packed day of football. Our 2019 Clarets travelled to Kilmore Drive to face St John Vianney, while our 2016 Girls welcomed Maynooth Town to Marley’s Lane. Our 2015 Blue team played out an entertaining 2–2 draw against Shankill FC, and our 2014 Blue team produced a fantastic 4–4 draw against Baldoyle United after a goal-filled game. ⚽️🔥

Our 2013 Girls fixture against Clontarf Boys & Girls was postponed, while our 2013 Blues were involved in another exciting game, narrowly losing 5–4 away to Finglas United. A really competitive contest and plenty of attacking football from both sides. 👏

Our 2011 Claret Major team faced St Francis FC away from home, going down 4–1, while our 2011 Blues picked up an excellent 2–1 victory over Newlands/Castle Park.  Our Youths Girls Major 1 travelled to Elmdale to face Cherry Orchard, unfortunately losing 0-5 in a tough away game.

A huge well done to all our players, coaches, parents and volunteers who represented DBGFC this weekend. Whether it was a first game, a hard-fought draw, a narrow defeat or an important win, every game is another opportunity to develop, learn and enjoy playing football.

Well done everyone — another weekend of football and another weekend representing the red and blue with pride! ⚽️
