Drogheda Boys & Girls FC is introducing new parking rules at Marley's Lane on match days, starting this Saturday, 10th October.
The change comes after ongoing concerns about the number of cars parking in the grounds on match days. With large numbers of children arriving, leaving and moving between pitches, the club has identified a real risk of an accident. Keeping the grounds clear also ensures that emergency services can get in quickly if they are ever needed.
Who can park at Marley's Lane on match days
From Saturday 10th October, parking in the grounds on match days is only for:
- ✅ Referees
- ✅ Coaches
- ✅ Anyone holding a written letter of permission from the Club Chairperson, granted on medical grounds
Nobody else may park at Marley's Lane on match days.
Where to park
Parents, guardians and supporters are asked to use the car park at Aura Leisure Centre, a short walk from the grounds. Please do not park in the neighbouring housing estates, at bus stops or on footpaths in the area. Please allow a few extra minutes on match days to park and walk in.
Coach permits and medical permission
All club coaches will receive a parking permit sticker so their cars can be easily identified. At present, nobody holds written permission to park in the grounds on medical grounds, so anyone who needs it must apply, even if they have parked there before. Requests can be sent in confidence to the Chairperson at drogboys.chair@gmail.com.
Clamp and release
The club would much rather not take this step. However, if there is continued non-cooperation, a clamp and release system will be introduced for cars parked in the grounds without permission on match days. Coaches and club officials may ask drivers to move their car, and we ask everyone to do so without argument.
Thank you the families who have already taken this measure to ensure we keep the car park at Marley's Lane clear and safe for all.
