Seventeen fixtures across two days will see Drogheda Boys/Girls FC teams out in force once again this weekend, with Marley's Lane hosting a bumper programme of home games as the club's boys' and girls' sides look to build on an encouraging start to the campaign.
Drogheda Boys/Girls FC returns to action this Saturday and Sunday, 3rd and 4th October, with seventeen fixtures spanning the full breadth of the club's underage structure. After a weekend disrupted by heavy rain last time out, supporters will be hoping for calmer conditions and a clean sweep of games across both days.
SATURDAY GETS THE WEEKEND MOVING
Saturday brings seven fixtures, with a good mix of home and away assignments for the club. The 2018 Claret side open the day with a trip to Skerries Town FC, while Marley's Lane sees its first action of the weekend as the 2017 Claret squad welcome Malahide United FC.
The 2016 Claret team make the journey to Templeogue United FC, and the 2015 Claret side face Firhouse Carmel FC away from home. Back on home soil, the 2014 Claret squad host Donacarney Celtic FC at Marley's Lane, while the 2013 Claret Major side travel to take on Lucan United FC. Rounding out Saturday's card, the 2012 Claret side are back at Marley's Lane to face St Francis FC.
SUNDAY BRINGS A BUMPER TEN FIXTURES
Sunday is the busier of the two days, with ten fixtures on the schedule and Marley's Lane playing host to the majority of them.
The day begins with the 2019 Claret side welcoming Montpelier FC in a small-sided twin fixture, while the 2016 Girls host Rathcoole FC, also in small-sided action. The 2015 Blue squad are at home to Esker Celtic FC, and the 2014 Blue side welcome St Kevin's FC to Marley's Lane. The 2013 Blue team round out a strong home presence with a clash against Stepaside FC.
Away from Marley's Lane, the 2013 Girls travel to face Killester Donnycarney FC, while the 2012 Blue side make the trip to Killegland AFC. The 2011 Claret Major squad are also on the road, taking on Trinity Donaghmede FC.
Back on home turf, the 2011 Blue side welcome St Malachys AFC to Marley's Lane in a League 1 fixture, and the weekend concludes with the 2010 Girls Youths Major side hosting Rathcoole FC, also in League 1 action.
BUILDING ON A PROMISING START
This weekend's full programme comes with the club's league campaigns well underway, and there remains plenty of encouragement to be taken from the opening weeks of the season across the age groups. Notable among recent results was the U13 Clarets' standout 7-2 win away to Beechwood and the u14 girls 11-1 win against Dalkey, while several other squads have shown real competitiveness and promise despite some difficult results and a weather-hit schedule last time out.
With a full card of fixtures back on this weekend, the club will be hoping for strong performances across the board as teams look to kick on and continue building momentum through the season.
PUTTING THE PLAYERS FIRST: IT'S MY GAME
With so many fixtures taking place across Dublin and at Marley's Lane this weekend, the club again reminds all players, parents, coaches, and supporters of the importance of the Its My Game Policy. Positive, encouraging sideline behaviour makes all the difference to the enjoyment and development of our young players — so please keep the cheering loud and the comments positive, this weekend and every weekend.
