On Monday evening, March 25th, Drogheda Boys & Girls FC hosted a powerful and positive coaches meeting in The Thatch. With a fantastic turnout, our volunteers came together to reflect, plan, and collaborate on the direction of the club for the season ahead.
Key Highlights:
• Club Progress & Plans: Updates on our first 60 days included progress on Club Mark, new equipment, safeguarding audits, and successful community initiatives. The next 90 days will focus on continuing to build foundations, supporting football operations, and launching the “It’s My Game” campaign.
• Director of Football: Kian Maguire has been appointed Director of Football to lead the alignment of our football structure and player pathway from foundations to senior football.
• Coaching Structure: We discussed the introduction of Lead Coaches per age group and the importance of support systems like shared resources, workshops, and clearer session plans.
• Culture & Expectations: Clear standards for coach appearance, matchday conduct, and communication were reinforced. Coaches are ambassadors for our club—on and off the pitch.
• Silent Sideline Weekend: Set for March 28–30, with specific matchday protocols to support player decision-making and reduce sideline pressure.
• Idea Sessions: Breakout groups provided invaluable input on coaching support, club culture, communication systems, and fundraising initiatives. Ideas included community events, training resources, gear exchange programs, and a stronger sense of coach unity.
A huge thanks to everyone who contributed. It was a brilliant night of shared purpose and progress. Our coaches set the tone—and that tone is one of collaboration, respect, and development.
Let’s keep building together!
