We want to update you on the ongoing efforts to provide basic toilet and changing facilities at our Marley’s Lane pitches.
As many of you know, Marley’s Lane currently has no permanent toilets or changing rooms, despite hundreds of children, parents, coaches and visiting teams using the grounds every week. As a club that serves over 300 young players, this is something we have been working hard to change.
Since March 2025, the committee has been actively progressing a solution. We first explored connecting permanent utilities to the site, but delays in that process forced us to look at an alternative option — installing modular changing rooms and toilet facilities.
Since then, the club has:

Since then, the club has:
- Secured planning permission
- Responded to a Further Information request
- Commissioned drainage design and engineering reports
- Secured grant funding
- Engaged a modular building supplier
- Submitted applications for a Fire Safety Certificate and Disability Access Certificate
This work has involved a significant amount of time and effort from volunteers working with architects, engineers and suppliers to meet every planning and regulatory requirement.
Unfortunately, despite doing everything required, progress has been slower than we would have hoped. We are currently waiting for decisions on the Fire Safety and Disability Access Certificates, which may not be issued until April.
We know many members — and especially our young players — have been promised facilities before, and it is frustrating that delays continue. Please be assured that the committee is continuing to push this project forward at every opportunity.
A Call for Help
If any members have experience in construction, engineering, planning, trades, or development projects, we would greatly value your help. We are establishing a small Development Committee to assist with projects like this, and even a small amount of expertise or time could make a real difference.
As the saying goes, many hands make light work.
