A huge weekend awaits for Drogheda Boys & Girls FC with a packed schedule of league clashes and cup ties. With Marley’s Lane set to host a number of big games, there’s plenty of football to look forward to.
⚽️ Saturday – 21st March
Saturday gets underway early with the club’s youngest sides setting the tone.
At 10:00am, the 2016 Boys host Castleknock Celtic, while the 2018 Claret Boys travel to Swords Celtic looking to continue their development in another competitive outing. The action ramps up from mid-morning as the 2014 Claret side travel for a 10:30am kick-off against Leicester Celtic in the Quarter Final of the Tommy Coady Memorial Cup, a big test away from home.
Back in Marley’s Lane, the 2015 Boys take to the pitch at 11:00am against Ardmore Rovers, before a busy late morning schedule. At 11:30am, attention turns to three key fixtures. The 2012 Claret side face a tough away trip to Greystones United, the 2013 Claret team host Cabinteely FC in the Jimmy Flood Cup, and the 2009 Boys welcome Knocklyon United in an important league clash.
🔵 Sunday – 22nd March
Sunday brings another full schedule, with a strong mix of boys and girls teams in action.
The day begins at 10:00am with a double kick off at Marley’s Lane. The 2010 Girls host Enniskerry Youth Club, while the 2018 Blue Boys take on Howth Celtic. At 11:00am, the 2012 Blue side travel to Lucan United, while the 2015 Boys are also on the road facing Peamount United in the EES Cup.
Back on home soil, the 2014 Blue team take centre stage at 11:15am as they face Palmerstown FC in the Allen Hughes Memorial Cup, another big opportunity in knockout football. The late morning continues with the 2011 Blue side facing Lourdes Celtic away from home at 12:30pm, while the 2013 Girls welcome Marino AFC to Marley’s Lane at the same time.
Attention then turns to the senior side, as the LSL Senior Men kick off at 1:00pm at home against St Ita’s in the Kevin Nugent Cup, a key fixture to round off the home action.
The final game of the weekend sees the 2016 Girls travel to Parkvale FC for a 1:30pm kick-off.
It’s a weekend full of opportunity across all age groups, with cup runs on the line and important league fixtures to be played. Plenty of home action means a great chance to get down to Marley’s Lane and support the teams.
