What an incredible few days it was for Drogheda Boys & Girls FC 2014’s as our players, coaches and families travelled to Barcelona for a football experience that will live long in the memory.
From the moment our players boarded their  flights bound for Spain, there was a real sense of excitement and anticipation. Months of planning, fundraising, sponsorship support, and preparation had all led to this moment, and the experience exceeded every expectation.

The weekend was about so much more than football. Between matches, our players enjoyed some well-earned downtime in the hotel pools, spent quality time together at the beach, tackled the thrills of the waterpark, and even showed off their talents during a memorable karaoke night. The friendships, laughter and memories created throughout the trip are every bit as important as the football itself.

On the pitch, our teams had the opportunity to compete against clubs from across Europe. Facing different styles of play, new opponents and unfamiliar environments provided a fantastic learning experience for all involved. The tournament itself provided unforgettable moments. There were brilliant goals, outstanding saves, hard-fought victories, dramatic penalty shootouts, and occasions where players showed tremendous resilience in the face of disappointment. Every challenge became a learning opportunity, and every success was celebrated together as one club.

One of the most rewarding aspects of the trip was seeing players from different age groups and teams come together as one club. Friendships were strengthened, new friendships were formed, and the sense of belonging within DBGFC was evident everywhere we went.

We would also like to thank all of our sponsors, player sponsors, parents, guardians and supporters who helped make this tour possible. Your generosity and support gave our players an opportunity to experience international football, create lifelong memories and represent their club and community abroad.

Trips like this remind us that football is about more than results. It is about experiences, personal growth, teamwork, creating memories and representing your community with pride. Our players did exactly that throughout the weekend.

A huge thank you must go to our coaches, volunteers and parents whose support made the trip possible. Organising an overseas tournament takes a tremendous amount of work behind the scenes, and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who contributed.

As we returned home tired but happy, we brought back much more than football memories. We returned with stronger friendships, greater confidence, valuable experiences and stories that will be shared for years to come.

Well done to every player who wore the DBGFC crest in Barcelona. You represented our club, our families and our community brilliantly.

Barcelona 2026 will be remembered as a weekend full of football, friendship, fun and unforgettable memories.
